Who am I?
Introduction Letter
My name is Teresa Nguyen. I was born in Stockton, California, but moved to Montgomery, AL at the age of 3 years old. My parents are from a small town in Vietnam and moved to America around the age of 25. I attended a Catholic school from the elementary to high school and was also raised Catholic. I was never into sports growing up, but instead, I enjoyed the arts, like painting, drawing, and building. My family had a lot of struggles. My sister was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 8 and a couple for years later my parent got a divorced. These setbacks didn’t affect me but from it, I learned to fight through the hardship and conquer through it. So from this, I pursued my love which is helping others. I was really involved in high school. I joined various club-like Pro-Life Club, Key Club, SGA, Prep Club, Chorus, and Drama club. In SGA, I enjoyed helping others get their voices to hear and helping them through senior year. I was a representative of my senior class. By joining these clubs. I held myself to a standard of completing any assignments to the fullest of my ability.
Goals I would like to hold myself too is by completing my assignment in a timely manner. For example, completing an assignment a week before the due date. In high school, I would leave myself about a day to complete a paper and this resulting from an incomplete satisfaction I would like from it. By completing the assignment earlier I have time to revise and express my fullest thought and be completely satisfied with my work. Another task, I would like it to ask others on help with writing paper, like reviewing and correcting any mistake that might have been made. In high school, I didn’t enjoy others reading my paper because of the comment that I’ll receive from it. This gave me the anxiety to hear what others had to say and so I never asked. Since going to college, I’ve heard of the amazing resources I have on campus and by hearing this, it gives me a sense of relief to know that there are people whose job is to help on reviewing paper.
In high school, I was involved in honors and AP classes. From freshman to senior year, I took either honors or AP English classes. For me, in those classes, I never really got a firm understanding of how to write a good essay. I was also given a prompt and was expected to answer them. The problem was that I never got feedback on those paper and for me, I struggle on how to write a well-rounded essay. So my goal, this semester is to fully understand the ins and out of how to write a well-rounded paper and to know how to spit out information well on paper. Hopefully, I accomplish my goals and improve from it, to better my future in my writing.
